From the Goodson list:
After the demise of The Birthday Party Nick Cave was in the 'wilderness' and without management. In September 1983 he contacts Mick and a few other friends (Blixa Bargeld, Barry Adamson & Jim G. Thirlwell) to join him in London in the studio for what was initially planned as his first solo EP "Man Or Myth" for Mute records.
In October he records with Annie Hogan and Mark Almond and does a 3-date US Halloween tour (as The Immaculate Consumptive) with Jim, Mark & Lydia Lunch.
He then returns to Melbourne in December where he is contacted by concert promoter Ken West who sets up a short tour for him. His band is formed, first unnamed, then briefly as The Cavemen and later as The Bad Seeds. Almost 20 years later they're still world's greatest band.
A chronology of the early years (1983-1990) can be found at the (unofficial) site. A discography is to follow shortly.
