Taken from the Telegraph:
Brighton resident Nick Cave will not have far to travel to see the UK première of a new dance piece set to his magnificently doomy music. Underland, created by American bad-boy choreographer Stephen Petronio for the Sydney Dance Company, will be performed exclusively at the Brighton Festival in May. It's one of eight UK premières and nine world premières that festival director Nick Dodds has secured to entice visitors to the town. He explains: "The festival season in the UK is a competitive place. You have to find things that audiences can't see anywhere else." Another intriguing event is a new work by Frantic Assembly, Dirty Wonderland, that has been commissioned especially for the Brighton Festival, involving a soundtrack by the eccentric synth-pop outfit Goldfrapp. "It's a promenade piece," says Dodds. "Audiences won't sit in the theatre for this one." The recently closed Grand Ocean Hotel is opening its doors to the production.
