From Maurice:

The Best Of... Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds is scheduled for March / April next year. Here's the tracklist (in order) as a little bird whispered:

Deanna
Red Right Hand
Straight To You
Tupelo
Nobody's Baby Now
Stranger Than Kindness
Into My Arms
(Are You) The One That I've Been Waiting For?
The Carny
Do You Love Me?
The Mercy Seat
Henry Lee
The Weeping Song
The Ship Song
Where The Wild Roses Grow
From Her To Eternity

Very predictable, but I'm glad the Your Funeral... My Trial songs made it on this one.

From Mute Info:

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds have been awarded the 1997 Grand Prix of the Charles Cros Academy (in France) for "The Boatman's Call".

The Charles Cros Academy is apparently the oldest institution of its kind in France. The prize is in recognition of songwriting and lyric quality.

Kim Beissel noted:

I thought I might mention briefly that Cat Power has been in Melb. recently playing gigs backed by Jim & Mick from the Dirty 3. They've also played as the Tren Brothers in support of Mick Turner's solo instrumental CD called Tren.

Rowland S. Howard is still gigging solo as he did in support of some of the recent NC shows.

Also (ex-Birthday Party) Phill Calvert's latest band Sugarhips are still gigging, but with a new 3 piece line-up which is Phill - drums, Ben Ling - Vocals & Guitar, and Kelly ? - Bass.
